Fatigue Lyme disease
Besides the characteristic red rash, Lyme disease doesn’t have any other symptoms that exactly point to this disease. This also goes for fatigue, which might be caused by different factors.
Fatigue is also often noticed in connection with Lyme disease. In the early phase, this symptom occurs in combination with flulike symptoms. However, in a later stage of the disease, it also occurs when the bacteria spreads through the body.
Lyme disease | a multisystem disease
Lyme disease is a so-called multisystem disease; it affects multiple organs.
One of the consequence might be serious fatigue, which resembles Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). Patients with Lyme disease are sometimes diagnosed with ME/CFS. When this diagnosis is made, it is important that the possibility of Lyme disease was tested properly. One simple antibody test is in this case not enough.
